Backpacking Trip: Fish Hatchery to Burrell's Ford

Posted on Oct 22 2014 - 12:48am

Backpacking Trip
Fish Hatchery to Burrell's Ford
Saturday & Sunday: Oct.25-26
We will meet at the church at 8:00 am Saturday morning (Please be on time!)
We will drive up to Burrell's Ford and leave a vehicle there, then on to the Fish Hatchery to start our hike.
We will camp on the trail around the halfway mark. Those who want to may fish.
When packing food, pack at least one meal that can use a backpacking stove (especially if a lower rank) as this will help meet one of the lower rank requirements.
Pack at least 2 liters of water. If more is needed, we can purify stream water by boiling, purification tablets, or using the UV light pen.
Be sure to read through the backpacking list handed out Tuesday night and attached here.
If you have a backpacking tent, it is ok to bring it along. If not, we will use scout tents and scouts will share the burden of carrying them.
If possible, bring a whistle to attach to your backpack.
Sunday, we will pack up and get back on the trail for the 2nd half of the hike to Burrell's Ford. Then a leader will drive the other drivers to pick up cars at Fish Hatchery and return to pick of the scouts and leaders to make our way home.
If we leave in time, we will be stopping on the way back for lunch....several leaders need to be back by 3:00, so that will be our guideline for the return trip.
If possible, print the permission form, sign it and bring on Saturday morning. I will have extras, but don't let parents leave before signing a form.

POPCORN BLITZ & Prizes!!
Sunday - Sept. 28
2-5pm
Show up at the Scout huts across from First Presbyterian Church,
302 W. Whitner Street in Anderson at 2:00pm.

We will assign neighborhoods - a different neighborhood for each unit.
Scouts and parents will go to the assigned neighborhood and
knock on each door to sell Trails' End popcorn.  It's easy!

Afterwards, report back to the Scout huts across from First Presbyterian Church.
There we'll have hot dogs, drinks, and door prizes.
Plus, we'll see how much everyone sold and give a grand total.

HAVE SOME SHOW & SELL POPCORN?
Bring it along and sell it to the customer at their house.
You can collect the money then and not have to worry about making a second trip.
If you don't have any popcorn, we'll have some there that you can take with you.
This is open to any scout & parent that wants to take advantage of it....I hope some of you will!!
