District Banquet - February 11 at Bleckley Inn

Posted on Jan 9 2016 - 9:44pm

 District Banquet
Bleckley Inn - February 11 at 6:00pm
Catered  by Pompous Pig

Admission: Scouting Box (see below)
Why am I making a big deal about this? Because it's a very big deal.
This is a special opportunity for us to recognize the hard work and countless hours that are put into making Scouting in Anderson the best it can be.
We were one of only two districts all of the Blue Ridge council that achieved the "silver standing" recognition, and are the highest individual level in all of the council.
(We have enough "points" for gold, but recruiting was off this year, so we weren't able to meet that one, unfortunately. We'll get'em this year.)
For that, we want to recognize and honor your hard work and dedication.
So, mark your calendars for: February 11, 2016 for 6:00pm at the Bleckley Inn in downtown Anderson.
The meal will be catered by the Pompous Pig.

There is one caveat to this. In years past, the price of admission has always varied between $10-$15 per person.
However, this year, the only price of admission is for every individual to bring a "Scouting Box". What's a Scouting Box, you say; I'm glad you asked. A Scouting Box is a very simple idea that was taken based off of the "Operation Christmas Child", where we, as concerned individuals, will be filling shoe boxes with toiletries (soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, etc.) and donating them to AIM, along with canned goods.
We have, as of 3 weeks ago, entered into a wonderful partnership with AIM and they will be the recipients of this years' food drive and Scouting Boxes.

For this, as a district, our Key-3 has discussed the "goals". Our goals are: to have over 100 Scouting Boxes and over 1,000lbs of food.
This will also be a wonderful opportunity to show the Upstate that Scouting is alive and well in Anderson.
(Media coverage will be provided)

Let's push this and make it an incredible year to show why Scouting in 6&20 is the best in the southeast!!
