BSA Troop 280

Charter: New Hope United Methodist Church, Anderson, SC

Troop 280 has been chartered by New Hope United Methodist Church in Anderson since 1965. We have recently added our 23rd Eagle in the troop. Although a small troop, Troop 280 continues to hang in there and is always open for new membership opportunities.

Troop 280 serves grades 6 - 12. Scouts go to various schools in the area, including Lakeside Middle, Southwood Middle, Robert Anderson Middle, Westside High and Crescent High. Cub Scouts from Centerville Elementary and McLees Elementary feed into the troop. Currently Troop 280 has 18 active scouts.

Our Unit is unique in that we are small, but we make our troop stand out among the best.

Camp Old Indian is our biggest annual event. However, over the years we have visited many battlefields (including Shiloh and Gettysburg), we have gone to places such as Washington, DC, Outer Banks, and Wright Patterson Airforce Base and trudged through many backpacking trips in the Foothills of the Carolinas.

Troop 280 participates in Scouting for Food, Popcorn fundraising and doing Service Projects from road cleanups to clearing sites in parks.
